New Era Publishing De Katning Framed Print - Rod McGehee -Overall dimensions: 36" x 30" -Artist: Rod McGehee -Framed print -Your choice of 5 different frames with acrylic glazing Special Features: -Decorative wall art -Figurative art -Comes with certificate of authenticity and biography -Primary color: orange -Secondary color: purple -Great for living rooms, offices and more About Rod McGehee Born in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1953, Rod McGehee has lived mostly throughout the west, including Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Idaho. His education includes study at the Rhode Island School of Design and further study with Taos artist, Ray Vinella. McGehee focuses on the American southwest and also paints scenes in Europe and anywhere else his travels take him. Rod expresses his admiration for Matisse, Van Gogh, Hockney and Thomas Hart Benton. "I appreciate artists who are ahead of their time, the so-called risk takers, because most great works of art are the result of some kind of risk taking," says McGehee. Today he takes his own risks by creating in a looser, painterly fashion that suggests rather than copies. He uses color and composition to evoke his own feelings rather than producing a literal rendition of the scene before him. "After spending countless hours in philosophical discussion with fellow artist, gallery operators and patrons... after worrying about the development of a personal style... after trying to second guess the art market, I've arrived at a simple two word statement that really says it all, 'JUST PAINT,' because nothing really happens till the brush hits the canvas," says McGehee. - Category: Home Family - Furniture - Item: 458255477

New Era Publishing Dragon Cloud Framed Print - Narum -Overall dimensions: 38" x 29" -Artist: Jon Eric Narum -Framed print -Your choice of 5 different frames with acrylic glazing Special Features: -Decorative wall art -Landscape art -Comes with certificate of authenticity and biography -Primary color: yellow -Secondary color: green -Great for living rooms, offices and more About Narum Born to artist parents in Piney Point Village, Texas, Jon Eric Narum was the middle child of five children. In addition to having played Pop Warner football, Narum?s other childhood obsessions included drawing, painting and making things - such as model cars. However, it was his parents' love of art that had the most profound affect on his desire for visual self-expression and his eventual career choice. Narum?s love of expansive skies goes back to childhood, as well. ?I have one very vivid recollection of riding in the back of our '59 Ford station wagon, along with my family on one of the numerous drives out to my grandfather's house on Lake Travis, near Austin, Texas. I can still recall reclining in the back of that big ol' station wagon, gazing out of the window at the puffy cumulus clouds drifting by and finding great joy in picking out assorted beasts and other surrealistically strange creatures". Narum currently resides in Austin and is still, admittedly, obsessed with painting in his photorealistic style and making things with his hands. ?I still really love exploring the delightful colors, shapes, and moods I experience while painting my sky paintings. Each sky is an intriguing, challenging, and elegant journey for me". While most of his sky-scapes are of Texas skies, stints in Oklahoma and Kansas have expanded his repertoire and added some Midwestern flavor to the palette. - Category: Home Family - Furniture - Item: 458255479
